KoraLED Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to many of the questions we commonly get. If you have a question that is not here, please contact us at the link on the bottom of the page, and we will get back to you within 24 hours!

General

Where are you based out of?

We are an American owned US company.

How do you pronounce KoraLED?

"Core-uh el-ee-dee".

How are you able to offer such low prices?

We have optimized our production and logistics, and have very low overhead. You will never see us at any trade shows, we don't have a marketing budget, and thus our overhead is next to nothing. We rely solely on social media and word of mouth. These savings allow us to sell lights to you at a price no one can compete with.

Lights

What does CRI (or Ra) mean?

The Color Rendering Index, or Ra, is the average rating of how well a light renders eight Munsell color samples, designated R1 through R8. The color samples are evenly distributed across a range of hues, but all lack saturation. The best rating is 100.

What does Extended CRI (or Re) mean?

The Extended Color Rendering Index, or Re, adds seven additional color samples to the eight used with CRI, for a total of 15 colors, designated as R1 through R15. Four of the samples are highly saturated, and two are meant to represent human skin. R9 represents saturated red, R13 represents Caucasian skin tone and R15 Asian skin tone. The best rating is 100.

What's the difference between your High CRI and Ultra High CRI LEDs?

Our High CRI LED light strips have a CRI (Ra) rating of 95 (R1-R8), and our Ultra High CRI LED light strips have a CRI (Ra) rating of up to 99 (R1-R8) and a minimum Extended CRI (Re) rating of 97 (R1-R15).

What does TLCI mean?

The Television Lighting Consistency Index, or TLCI, is a color rendering model for CCD-based broadcast cameras created by the European Broadcasting Union. It averages 24 color samples from a ColorChecker Color Rendition (or Macbeth) chart. The best value is 100.

Controllers

When will the Android/iPad app be available?

We are aiming for early 4th quarter 2018. When we are ready for beta testers, we will send out an email.

Shipping

How are orders shipped?

We use DHL for most countries. It's the largest logistics company in the world and, in our experience, one of the most reliable. For remote locations where DHL is not available, we use EMS.

You will receive an email once order processing has begun, and a second email when your tracking number is available. Typically, order processing takes 1-2 business days.

Where do you ship from?

We ship primarily from outside the United States. Even though we are a US company, half of our customers are from outside the US. By not having to import the products into the US and by having our warehouse near our production lines we can dramatically lower our prices and slash our turnaround time.

What countries do you ship to?

We ship worldwide and have customers in over 50 countries. The only countries we do not ship to are Cuba, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Somalia, and Syria, which we are forbidden to by law.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Once your order is processed, it typically takes 1-3 days to get to North America, Europe, or Australia with DHL. Other countries can take a few days longer. EMS usually takes 5-7 days. Order processing is normally only 1-2 business days.

Do you drop ship products?

No, we ship our own products from our own warehouse.

Will I have to worry about customs?

It depends on your country and the size of your order. Rarely in the US or Australia. If you have a large order and you are worried about this, please contact us.
